Glaucoma Assessments

Glaucoma is an insidious disease that often has no symptoms. Its detection is only through a thorough eye examination with the right equipment. Glaucoma is where the pressure of the fluid within the eyes is typically increased. This can cause damage to the eye and subsequent vision loss. Glaucoma detection has come a long way and at the cutting edge of detection is Optical Coherence Tomography or OCT. OCT is akin to an MRI of the eye and allows for accurate measurement of the sensory layers of the eye. This often being the changes relating to the start of glaucoma. Being early adopters of new technology, this service has been offered at Eye Envy Optometrist for the last 6 years. Visual field testing is also important, as your central vision which is measured on the eye chart, only represents around 2% of your vision. This testing is also offered on-site along with intra-ocular pressure measurement.
