Myopia (Short-sighted)

Myopia or being short-sighted is a condition where near focus is better than distance focus. It occurs when the eye itself focuses light in front of the retina causing blurred vision. Even though the main symptom is blurred vision in the distance, we often find squinting, eye strain and headaches can also occur.

Myopia can be hereditary or due to environmental stresses. There has also been a link found between inadequate sun exposure and myopia. Current corrections for myopia include glasses and contact lenses; however, more recent studies are pointing to specific myopia control glasses and the use of contact lenses to limit the progression of myopia. All these options are available to discuss and implement in store.
